COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Administrator Bud Norman gave more details to the Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday about how the Branch County Courthouse will operate when it reopens to the public.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Courthouse has been closed to the public since March 17.
The building was originally scheduled to reopen to the public on June 1 but that could change if Governor Whitmer extends her “Safer at Home” order which is scheduled to expire next Thursday.
Norman pointed out only those who have business in the courthouse will initially be allowed inside.
Courthouse patrons must have an appointment and they will be escorted by a member of the department they made the appointment with.
Patrons must wear a mask or else they will not be allowed in the building. In addition, temperatures will be taken at the front of the courthouse.
All courthouse employees will have to wear a face mask in public enclosed areas.
Norman also went over how the seating will be set up for Commissioner meetings in order to maintain social distancing guidelines.
It’s hoped the building will be fully open to the public at end of June.
