UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – There will be no parade in Union City on Memorial Day this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Village Council approved a request this week from the American Legion Post 196 to honor veterans.
Members of Post 196 will travel in a vehicle on the parade route from Union City High School to the North Broadway Street bridge where a volley fire will be performed just like in the past.
According to the village’s Facebook page, a stop will also be made at the civil war monument where a wreath will be laid and the procession will end at the cemetery.
The procession will be led by Union City police and firefighters.
There is also a possibility of a “flyover” being performed as well. The procession will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday morning.
