SCOTT TOWNSHIP, IN (WTVB) – An Angola man was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital after crashing into a pair of trees late Tuesday night on U.S. 20 about five miles east of Angola.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says 21-year-old Tanner Romine was heading east just before midnight when he came around a curve and overcorrected his pickup truck.
The vehicle went off the north side of the road and struck two trees before Romine was ejected.
The crash is still under investigation but the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release that speed and alcohol are believed to be factors. They say Romine was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
U.S. 20 was shut down for about an hour due to power lines in the road.
