COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Community Schools student will continue to receive free breakfast and lunches at least through the end of June.
The school district has received a waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to continue to provide the free meals through June 29, 2020.
The meals are distributed every Monday and Thursday. Every Monday 3,600 breakfast and 3,600 lunch bags are given out to cover the first three days of the week, with 4,800 breakfast and 4,800 lunch bags passed out on Thursdays to cover through the weekend.
Superintendent Terry Ann Whelan says the annual Chartwells Food Service “Meet Up and Eat Up” program is scheduled to begin in July, but could be replaced by a continuation of the current breakfast and lunch distribution, which has served many more students than the traditional summer food program.
