BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Branch County is included in a Flood Watch that is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.
The National Weather Service says the Flood Watch covers all of southwest Lower Michigan, northern Indiana and northwest Ohio.
Forecasters say a vigorous upper level system will bring the likelihood of heavy rains as moisture streams north of the Ohio River and then become stationary. Storm total rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts are expected into Monday.
Branch County got between one to two inches of rain Thursday night and Friday morning. There were isolated reports of heavier rainfall.
The heavy rain led to a drainage tube washing out on Albright Road between Batavia and Snow Prairie Roads in Bethel Township.
The National Weather Service says with soils across most of the area saturated and rivers swelling in response to the heavy rain that fell last week, areal and river flooding is possible. People living in flood prone locations, such as near creeks, low spots, and poor drainage areas may be impacted.
