UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers split a Big 8 Conference baseball doubleheader with Jonesville on Saturday as they won the opener 2-1 but dropped the nightcap 8-4.
Union City’s Kyle Johnson struck out 10 and tossed a complete game one hitter in the opener.
Jonesville took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning but Union City rallied for single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to get the win.
Jonesville used a five run sixth inning to break the second game open. The Chargers were unable to overcome seven errors.
Connor Elgan had three hits for the Chargers. He also struck out six in four innings of work on the mound. Ryan Zweng had two hits and two RBI’s.
