COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Downtown Development Authority approved a rebate program of up to $10,000 on Tuesday that will compensate those in the Central Business District for changes they have to make to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program is part of a re-opening strategy for downtown businesses which were forced to shut down in March when they were deemed to be non-essential.
To improve health and safety for customers and business employees, the program would help pay for such items as hand sanitizer stations, masks for employees and patrons and door handles that require less contact.
The program funding will be available for several months.
As part of the program, the D.D.A. will offer a 75 percent rebate of up to $500 per business.
In other business, the D.D.A. approved a $98,000 budget for the next fiscal year with $22,000 set aside for other projects.
