BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Calhoun County officials say the County Jail has had its first COVID-19 positive test by an inmate.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Public Health Department were notified last Saturday that an inmate tested positive for COVID-19.
They say the inmate arrived at the jail on last Wednesday without symptoms.
As part of the safety protocol at the jail, the inmate was placed into quarantine upon admittance and later in the evening developed symptoms, including an elevated temperature.
The subject was then placed in a medical negative pressure isolation cell and is now being treated by medical staff.
An inmate mentioned in a previous press release issued by the county ultimately tested negative for COVID-19.
