STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was arrested by the Indiana State Police over the weekend after he allegedly drove erratically at speeds of over 100 miles an hour on northbound I-69 in Steuben County.
Indiana State Police say 26-year-old Nicholas Sajecki was booked at the Steuben County Jail following the early Saturday morning incident on five charges including a felony count of operating while intoxicated.
He was also booked on two misdemeanor drunk driving charges as well misdemeanors for operating while suspended and reckless driving.
Sajecki is being held in the jail pending an initial court hearing.
State Police say one of their troopers saw a speeding car heading north at more than 100 miles at about 1:40 a.m. while he was patrolling near the Ashley/Hamilton exit.
The trooper caught up to the speeding car after pursuing it for eight miles. State Police say the vehicle they were pursuing reached a top speed of 112 miles an hour.
The driver pulled over and stopped about a mile north of the Lake James exit at the 351 mile marker.
