ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A space heater that was left to close to combustibles is being listed as the cause of a Sunday morning house fire in Angola which caused about $50,000 worth of damage.
The fire in a two story home at 419 North Martha was reported at about 8:50 a.m..
Firefighters managed to get the flames under control about a half hour later.
No injuries were reported and firefighters were able to rescue several cats that were in the residence.
All of the fire damage was contained to the room where the fire originated. Heavy smoke damage was reported on the second floor while there was water damage on the first floor.
Angola firefighters were assisted by crews from Fremont and Pleasant Lake.
Crews were on the scene until about 10:30 a.m..
