BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Bronson firefighters were at the scene of a fire at 665 Langwell Rd. in Batavia Township for 2-1/2 hours Friday afternoon.
When crews arrived at the scene around 4:30 p.m., they found a 24-by-32 foot garage and a 10-by-12 foot shed fully engulfed, with flames spreading to the exterior walls of a house 10 feet away.
According to Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber, crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire racing up the side of the house, preventing flames from reaching the interior.
The garage and shed, along with their contents, were declared a total loss; the fire, which caused a total of $28,000 in damage, originated from a nearby gas grill.
The Union City Fire Department provided mutual aid in the form of a tanker.
