COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI. (WTVB) – Coldwater and Quincy firefighters had to battle a structure fire at the Steve Gaglio property on North Sanford Road north of Blackhawk Road on Friday morning.
The fire was reported just after 7:30 a.m. after it had started in a kitchen ceiling.
Coldwater Fire Marshall Steve Trall says crews arrived to find significant fire and smoke coming from the back of the home. Crews entered the structure to extinguish the fire and check for fire extension.
The fire was extinguished at around 8:30 a.m..
It caused about $55,000 worth of damage in the kitchen and dining room area. Investigators think the fire was electrical in nature.
No injuries were reported. Crews remained on scene until just before noon.
Besides the Quincy Fire Department, Coldwater firefighters were assisted by Lifecare Ambulance, the Branch County Sheriffs Department, the Michigan DNR and the Michigan State Police.
North Sanford had to be shut down to traffic south of Garfield Road as crews battled the flames.
