COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported no new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday in Branch and St. Joseph Counties, while two new cases were reported in Hillsdale County.
Since the first two cases were reported on March 31, Branch County has had 30 positive COVID-19 cases outside of the Lakeland Correctional Facility with two deaths. Just one Branch County case has been reported since Sunday.
Hillsdale County has had 81 cases with nine deaths while St. Joseph County has had 22 positive cases with one death.
There has been a spike in Calhoun County cases in recent days. The Calhoun County Public Health Department says their county has had 104 COVID-19 cases so far with 40 persons requiring hospitalization. The virus has killed three Calhoun County residents.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported on Wednesday there has been a total of 28,059 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state since the first two were reported on March 10 along with 1,921 deaths. There were 1,058 new cases reported in Michigan on Wednesday with 153 deaths.
The Department reported last Friday that 433 patients in Michigan have recovered from COVID-19. That figure is scheduled to be updated this Friday.
