BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Calhoun County Public Health Department reported on Thursday morning that there were seven laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the Laurels of Bedford in Battle Creek which is operated by the Laurel Health Care Company.
The cases involve four residents and three staff members.
The four residents are receiving treatment in an isolated section of the facility or have been transported to the hospital while the affected staff members are off site and will not return to work until they are cleared to do so under the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Family member of those affected have been informed by The Laurels where residents and staff members are monitored and screened daily for symptoms.

The Calhoun County Public Health Department also reported on Thursday that 58 county resident have tested positive for COVID-19 out of 423 tests. Results were negative on 280 of the tests administered while results were pending on 85 tests.
Meanwhile, with Easter coming up this weekend the Public Health Department is strongly encouraging residents to avoid any gatherings that include family and friends or other people who do not live with you.
