BRANCH COUNTY, MI. – (WTVB) – A $7.7 million Michigan Department of Transportation project in Branch County that is scheduled to last through the month of October is getting underway this week.
Crews will be working on 12 miles of I-69 between Girard and Otis Roads as well as the Fenn, State and Newton Road bridges over the interstate.
The project will include pavement and joint repairs, resurfacing, crack sealing, and drainage improvements in order to extend the life of the bridges and provide a longer lasting pavement on I-69.
Repairs to the Fenn Road, State Road, and Newton Road bridges includes concrete deck repairs and repaving, full beam painting and approach work.
There will be construction on nights and weekends.
One lane of I-69 will remain open in each direction throughout construction.
Fenn and State Roads are now shut down over I-69 until July 17th.
State Road traffic is being be detoured onto Fiske Road, Newton Road, and Michigan Avenue.
Westbound Fenn Road traffic will be detoured north onto I-69 to U.S. 12 then west to southbound I-69. Eastbound Fenn Road traffic will be detoured south on I-69 to Copeland Road and then east to northbound I-69.
Newton Road will be closed over I-69 between August 4th to October 30th and traffic will be detoured via Fiske Road, State Road and Michigan Avenue.
