OVID TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Two teenagers escaped serious injury Friday morning when their vehicle hit the back of a semi on northbound I-69 south of Fenn Road.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department investigated the crash which took place at about 7:25 a.m..
The Sheriff’s Department says according to the deputy’s investigation, 18-year-old Harper Robertson of Coldwater failed to slow for slower traffic in the construction zone and rear ended a north bound semi driven by 44-year-old Stevan Potts of Defiance, Ohio.
A 15-year-old passenger in the Robertson vehicle was taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Robertson sought his own treatment. Potts was not injured.
Robertson was cited by the Sheriff’s Department for unable to stop within a clear safe distance.
The Sheriff’s Office were assisted by Life-Care Ambulance and the Lakeland Fire Department.
It was at least the sixth injury crash reported in Branch County since Monday which has resulted in ten persons being hurt.
