COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Strong winds knocked down trees and power lines on Sunday which led to some people who were already staying home to lose their electricity.
A wind advisory was issued for Sunday by the National Weather Service. Two wind gusts of 45 miles an hour were recorded at the Branch County Memorial Airport.
Some Union City residents lost their power when a tree fell down on power lines on Barry Street in the north part of the village. The village says the bulk of residents who were affected had their power restored by 7:30 p.m..
The power was out for a time in an area south of the intersection of East Girard and Quincy Grange Roads.
Outages were also reported east of Tekonsha and east of Hillsdale.
Consumers Energy reported Sunday that at one time, nearly 500 Hillsdale County customers were without power.
