THREE RIVERS, MI (WTVB) – A 64-year-old Three Rivers man was arrested Sunday morning after he was caught trying to steal a catalytic converter.
The Michigan State Police say troopers were called at about 6:15 a.m. to the 16000 block of Marcellus Road after employees of a business discovered a man cutting a catalytic converter off a company vehicle.
The man fled into a wooded area which led to troopers and members of the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department establishing a perimeter.
The man was eventually located by the Three Rivers Police Department K-9 Jake and his handler. The suspect was arrested and lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail for felony charges.
The Michigan State Police were assisted by the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, Three Rivers Police and the Three Rivers Fire Department.
Meanwhile, Michigan State Police troopers are investigating a larceny of a catalytic converter that happened in the 17000 block of 28 Mile Road in Calhoun County’a Sheridan Township. They say the suspects cut a catalytic converter off of a vehicle parked in a driveway. Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Police post in Marshall at (269) 558-0500.
