FLORENCE TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A motorcyclist was flown to a Kalamazoo hospital on Monday afternoon following a crash in St. Joseph County.
Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says the crash involving a car and a motorcycle happened at about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Banker Street and Burgener Roads.
The Sheriff’s Department says a 53-year-old White Pigeon man was traveling north on his motorcycle he ran the stop sign at the interseciton and was struck by a westbound Chevrolet Traverse being driven by a 71 year old Sturgis man.
The motorcycle rider was thrown from the bike and into the ditch. He suffered major injuries.
The occupants of the Chevrolet Traverse were not injured.
Constantine Fire/Rescue along with Lifecare Ambulance treated the motorcycle rider until the arrival of the Aircare helicopter which transported him to Kalamazoo for medical attention.
