WASHINGTON, D.C. – (WTVB) – Seventh District Republican Congressman Tim Walberg says he is actively monitoring the real-time developments regarding the Coronavirus and its spread into Michigan.
He issued a statement following reports of the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Michigan.
Walberg said, “My staff and I have been in regular communication with federal, state, and local health officials and we stand ready to assist. Just last week, Congress passed a bipartisan $8 billion emergency funding package to help ensure agencies on the front lines are well-prepared to combat and contain the Coronavirus. While the immediate health risk remains low, I encourage everyone to take precautions and follow the guidance of public health experts.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending everyone take basic preventative steps to limit the spread of the Coronavirus such as washing your hands, not touching your face and staying home if you’re sick.
