COLDWATER, MI. – (WTVB) – A second Republican candidate for Branch County Treasurer has gotten onto the August Primary ballot after filing their nominating petitions with the Branch County Clerk’s office and there could be a third candidate in the future.
Julie Redmond Waterbury joins Steve Rutz on the ballot. Branch County Chief Deputy Treasurer Kelli Talbot is planning to file as well.
Waterbury is currently the Director of Business Services for Homer Community Schools and also serves as the Girard Township Treasurer.
She has worked for Southern Michigan Bank & Trust and have spent the last 15 years working in K-12 public school finance at Coldwater Community Schools and Homer Community Schools. Waterbury was appointed as the Girard Township Treasurer in June 2014 and was elected to a four year term in November 2016.
Rutz is the owner of Storage Bin of Coldwater / U-Haul Dealer and currently work at Infinisource as a Finance Supervisor.
He is a 1993 graduate of Coldwater High School and holds a Masters Degree in Accounting.
Rutz has several years of experience in public and private accounting including being a controller for Sport Truck USA. He has been on the Coldwater Community Schools Board of Education since 2016.
Branch County Treasurer Ann Vrablic announced at last Thursday’s Board of Commissioners work session that she plans to retire when her term expires at the end of the year.
