BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Defense was the name of the game Friday night as the Bronson Vikings defeated the Quincy Orioles 31-26 to claim the Division Three girls basketball district championship on the Vikings home court.
Bronson led 11-5 after the first quarter and 19-11 at the half. Quincy managed to get to within four points at 24-20 in the fourth quarter but the Vikings hung on to improve to 15-8.
The Orioles end their season with a record of 15-7.
Points were hard to come by as the two teams combined for 37 turnovers and were a combined 19 of 79 from the floor.
Meagan Lasky scored a game-high 11 points for Bronson while Keona Salesman grabbed nine rebounds.
Maddie Hinds led Quincy with eight points.
Bronson advances to the regionals at Brooklyn Columbia Central where they will face Byron Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.. Jackson Lumen Christi will play Michigan Center in the other semifinal.
