SEATTLE, WA (WKZO AM/FM) – Detroit Tigers pitcher Spencer Turnbull threw a no hitter against the Seattle Mariners Tuesday night in Detroit’s 5-nothing win in Seattle.
It is the fifth no hitter of the season and the second time Seattle has been no hit.
The right hander finished with nine strikeouts and two walks to throw his first career no-no. It was the eighth no hitter in Detroit history.
Jeimer Candelario homered and drove in two as Detroit has now won seven of nine. Justin Dunn was the tough-luck loser, giving up two runs over five-and-two-thirds.
Seattle has lost two-straight. The Tigers go for the sweep in the series finale tonight, sending Tarik Skubal to the mound against Mariners starter Logan Gilbert.
