COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A new fund raising group which this year held its first meeting in January in Coldwater has already distributed $3,300 in an award presented last month.
Men Who Give of Branch County is modeled after Women Who Care of Branch County, an alliance created 6 years ago to streamline fundraising. Every member of Men Who Give commits to donating $100 at each of their four yearly meetings. A fifth check will be written directly to the Branch County Community Foundation to create an emergency fund for times when an organization may be in dire need of money between meetings.
Patrick Kelley of Coldwater, one of the co-founders of Men Who Give, spoke this week at the Coldwater Noon Rotary Club meeting Tuesday to detail the group’s gift of $3,300 to the Lakeland Fire Department to buy oxygen tanks, some of which are out of date.
Kelley explained that each member of Men Who Give signs up for the calendar year of 2020. New agreements will be signed annually to continue participation.
According to Kelley, their goal is a membership of 100 willing to work together to raise funds for deserving organizations and community projects. Nearly 40 men have so far joined Men Who Give of Branch County.
