TRAVERSE CITY (WKZO AM/FM) – A man who heckled Governor Whitmer during a visit in Northern Michigan, and then assaulted a news crew, has been formally charged.
On Tuesday 39-year-old Michael Harrison was charged with assault, disturbing the peace, and destruction of property.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Harrison is alleged to have yelled at Whitmer during her visit to Leelanau County on May 6th, and while talking with a news crew from TV 7 and 4 in Traverse City, grabbed a microphone and threw it across a parking lot, then spit on the crew’s camera.
Harrison has two other complaints filed against him, involving threatening calls made to Traverse City Public Schools and the county Health Department.
