COLDWATER, MI. – (WTVB) – A bid for over $141,000 from Parrish Excavating of Quincy for the repair and replacement of sidewalks throughout the first and second wards was approved on Monday night by the Coldwater City Council.
The bid from Parrish was just over $4,300 higher than a bid submitted by W.T. Stevens of Flint.
The city’s purchasing policy provides for local preference in the awarding of bids within a certain range of the lowest bid.
The Parrish bid was almost $9,000 less than the budgeted amount.
City Manager Keith Baker said this was a second attempt at soliciting bids for sidewalk repair. Bids submitted last year were over budget.
The funds for the project will come from the city’s accumulated fund balance.
