COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Legg Middle School girls basketball teams were swept by Jackson Northwest Monday night with three of the losses by five points or less.
The 8th grade A team was edged 41-40. Mackenzie Scheid had 18 points, 13 rebounds and five steals while Jaelah Sloan had 10 points and six rebounds.
The 8th grade B team lost 27-24. Legg was led in scoring by Kimberli River-Tovar with eight points. Natalie Wilson had nine rebounds while Hannah Stevens had four steals.
The 7th grade A team lost 43-38. Elli Foley led the way with 23 points, 10 rebounds, 13 steals and four blocks. Elli Anderson had eight points and nine rebounds.
The 7th Grade B team also lost. Drew Sharpley had four points while Elizabeth Hayward had 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, the St. Charles Borromeo Cougars defeated Trinity Lutheran from Sturgis 43-23 in a Sturgis Christian League matchup on Monday. The Cougars brought their record to 4-3 on the season.
Leading the Cougars in scoring was Christopher Grahl with 11 points followed by Jimmy Maynard with 10 points and Brody Haylett with eight points.
The Cougars next play Saturday in the Sturgis Christian League tournament to be held at St. Mary’s Assumption school in Bronson.
