COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As the race for the Interstate 8 Conference boys basketball championship enters its final week, the Coldwater Cardinals now control their own destiny for the conference title.
After a thrilling overtime victory at Pennfield last Friday night, the Cardinals own a one game lead over Harper Creek, Parma Western and Pennfield for first place in the conference.
The Cardinals play host to Harper Creek on Tuesday night at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium. A Coldwater win will give the Cardinals at least a share of the I-8 title.
It’s a tripleheader with the freshman game at 4:00 p.m. followed by the J.V.’s at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 7:00 p.m.. Coverage on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB as well as on line at www.wtvbam.com starts at 6:45 p.m.
In boys basketball Monday night, the Homer Trojans used a 29-3 third quarter to defeat the Bronson Vikings 88-46 in a make up game played in Bronson.
The game was originally scheduled for February 7 but was postponed due to the amount of sick students and staff members at that time in the Bronson School District.
Aden Hathaway, Mason Harris, and Reagan Mayer all had nine points for Bronson. The Vikings are now 4-14 overall and 1-11 in the Big 8 Conference.
