MENDON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A woman in South Carolina is being reunited with her class ring after a traffic stop turned up stolen jewelry in St. Joseph County.
A deputy pull over a vehicle on M-60 near Haas Road in Mendon Township on Wednesday and searched the vehicle. There they found a concealed weapon on the driver and assorted jewelry hidden inside the vehicle, including a class ring from the early 1980’s from a high school in the Battle Creek area.
They worked to locate the owner, who now lives in South Carolina, and made arrangements so she could retrieve the items.
She said the items were stolen from a home in Battle Creek several years ago and have significant sentimental value to her and her family.
Deputies are now seeking charges against the driver, a 28-year-old woman from Battle Creek, fo possession of a concealed weapon along with possession of stolen property.
