PARMA, MI (WTVB) – In high school basketball Friday night, the Coldwater Cardinals split their basketball doubleheader at Parma Western.
The Cardinal boys avenged a two-point January 10th loss to the Panthers by posting a 63-51 win. Coldwater led 16-6 after the first quarter, but Western cut the lead to 26-26 at the halftime break. Coldwater finished out the game by outscoring their hosts 37-26.
Five Cardinal players scored in double figures, led by Dylan Targgart’s 17 points and 9 rebounds. Spencer Rodesiler had 14 points, Ethan Crabtree and Brandon Downs had 11 apiece, and Austin Santure had a double-double with 10 points and 11 boards.
Targgart and Santure were named our McDonald’s Players of the Game.
The Cardinals are now 10-5 overall and remain tied with Pennfield atop the Interstate 8 standings at 8-2.

In the girls game, Coldwater hung with the Interstate 8 Conference co-leaders for the first half, leading at the break 23-22. Western outscored their guests 18-9 in the third quarter on their way to a 49-39 win.
Carlee Crabtree led the Cardinals with 14 points and 8 rebounds, while Abby Herman had 10 points and 3 boards. Allison Miller pulled down 5 rebounds as she and Herman were named our McDonald’s Players of the Game.
With the loss, Coldwater falls to 8-8 overall, 6-4 in the Interstate 8.
