COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After less than twoi inches of snow overnight, light snow across Branch County is expected to will taper gradually throughout Thursday, with an inch or less additional snowfall. A Winter Weather Advisory is still in effect until 1:00 p.m.
Snowfall was much heavier in the Kalamazoo and Van Buren County areas, with a number of schools closed. Pansophia Academy in Coldwater was the only Branch County affected by the snow, with a two hour delay Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will begin to plummet, falling through the 20’s today and into the single digits above zero tonight. Lake effect snow will impact southwest Lower Michigan into northwest Indiana today into tonight with this cold air mass.
Wind chill temperatures will bottom out in the 0 to 10 below zero range tonight. Friday’s highs will struggle through the teens.
The cold will be short-lived, however, with temperatures rebounding to near normal Saturday into next week.
