COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Branch County veteran expressed thanks yesterday after receiving food and fruit donated by the Coldwater Early Bird Exchange Club, which also gave out food and candy packages, along with Valentine’s cards from Coldwater third grade students.
Lee Yearling of Quincy, who served four years in the United State Navy from 1969-1973, picked up his gift bag at the Branch County Veterans Affairs office. Yearling said his finances currently were a bit tight and he wanted to let the Exchange Club know how thankful he was, and that he felt special getting a nice bag of things that he wouldn’t normally be able to afford.
And Yearling was clearly touched by the heartfelt greetings written by the kids from Jefferson Elementary. He said it clearly shows that the young people today appreciate what veterans have done for them to keep them living a good life, providing things they wouldn’t normally have. Yearling concluded in saying he sends out his love to all of them.
Branch County seniors and hospice patients were also recipients of the 60 food bags in all put together by the Early Bird Exchange Club.
