COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School gymnastics team celebrated Senior Night and improved to 5-1 in league play as they defeated Monroe Wednesday 133.05 to 129.225. Senior Co-Captain Kelani Philipp, who was honored at the opening of the competition.
The Cardinals managed to score over 130 points for the eleventh straight meet this season.
Leah Goodwin won the vault with a score of 8.9 and was second in floor exercise with a score of 9.05.
Layla Schoch performed a new sequence on the uneven bars to pick up the second place finish for the Cardinals at 8.35
Schoch was also second on the balance beam with a score of 8.4. McKenna Hantz finished third. Hantz was also third in floor exercise.
Goodwin was second in the All-Around competition with 34.225 points while Hantz and Schoch tied for fourth place.
Coldwater will host their make up this weekend for the Youth Clinic that had been postponed due to winter weather. The Lady Cardinals will teach youngsters ages 2 on up starting at 8:30 on Saturday morning. The gymnasts will return to action on Tuesday night in their home gym against a Haslett United cooperative team. The meet will start at 6PM.
