BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson Community Schools has become the first district in Branch County to shut its doors because of the large amount of sick students and staff members.
The flu and flu like symptons have forced districts in Hillsdale and Saint Joseph Counties to close at times this winter.
Bronson school officials posted on the district’s Facebook page Wednesday afternoon that all district buuildings will be closed on Thursday and Friday due to prolonged illness impacted both students and staff and that all buildings will go through a deep cleaning process.
Bronson Athletic Director Jean LaClair said as of Wednesday afternoon, competitive cheer, varsity wrestling and junior high wrestling will be competing on Saturday. Only varsity teams will be allowed to practice on Thursday and Friday. No sub varsity teams will be practicing.
LaClair is asking parents of student-athletes that if your child is sick, and cannot attend practice or a contest, please let the coach know.
It’s hoped Bronson classes will be able to resume on Monday.
