COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Former Branch County Prosecutor Terri Norris wants her old job back.
She has officially filed her candiacy for Prosecutor at the Branch County Clerk’s office for the August 4, 2020 Republican Primary.
Norris was elected prosecutor in 2008 when she defeated current probate judge Kirk Kashian.
Norris was unsuccessful in 2012 when she ran for Probate Judge to succeed the retiring Fred Wood.
But she came back in 2016 to win the District One County Commissioners seat by 66 votes over Rod Olney in the Republican Primary and was re-elected without opposition in 2018.
Current Prosecutor Val White is expected to seek a full term in office.
The Prosecutors race is part of what is expected be a busy election year for Branch County offices as all of the county offices are up for election in 2020. That includes all five Commissioners seats along with the offices of Sheriff, Clerk, Treasurer, Register of Deeds, Drain Commissioner and Surveyor.
The deadline for candidates to file for the August Primary is April 21, 2020.
The Michigan Presidential Primary will be held on Tuesday, March 10th. More information on the Presidential Primary can be found on the county clerk’s election page at www.countyofbranch.com.
