COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An offer to buy property on Munson Street that is currently owned by the City of Coldwater is scheduled to come before the Coldwater City Council Monday night.
City Manager Keith Baker says in his memo to the Council that the property at 25 Munson Street was purchased by the City from the State of Michigan for $8,600 through the state’s tax foreclosure program.
Ted and Amy Short, who own Short’s Root Beer Stand directly across the street, have made a $5,000 offer for the property.
The existing structure would be demolished and the property would be used for Short’s Root Beer Stand employee parking.
It’s being recommended by city staff that the offer be placed on the table for 30 days by the Council to see if any other offers for the property are made.
With that timeline, the Council would be able to take action during their meeting on March 9, 2020.
