COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Century Bank and Trust recently partnered with the Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Foundation, pledging $25,000 towards the Promise Scholarship Program.
It was almost two years ago when several members of the Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Club formed the Sunrise Rotary Project Team with the purpose to develop a regional Promise Project. This Promise Project is modeled on over 300 projects across the U.S. and nearly 25 started in Michigan.
Eventually, the Sunrise Rotary Promise Scholarship Program was launched last fall and 19 scholarships were awarded to Branch County residents and/or graduates of Branch County high schools.
During the late part of 2018, the Promise Endowment Fund was created with the support of private donations to insure the sustainability of the program.
Also last Fall, a Double Match Challenge initiative was announced to widen the Rotary family support across the five regional Rotary Clubs.
With the initial support of $25,000 each from George and Kathie Babcoke and the Hal and Lillian Creal Fund, the regional Rotary Clubs all contributed to achieving the $100,000 objective by year end.
The “Keystone Partner” Campaign has now begun and the goal is to unite key corporate and business partners to create a public match campaign to generate $200,000 of contributions to the Promise Endowment by the end of 2021.
