COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It was a sweep of Hall of Fame Night at Coldwater as the Cardinals posted a 69-37 win against Pennfield. Coldwater led by a 14-11 margin after the first quarter and pulled away with a 19-5 second quarter that included a 15-0 run. Carlee Crabtree led all scorers with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. Our McDonald’s Players of the Game both had career-high nights: Mallory Wilber with 13 points and 6 assists, and Alyssa Bach with 11 points off the bench. Coldwater improves to 4-6 overall, 3-2 in the Interstate 8.
Between the boys and girls basketball games at Coldwater, the newest members of their Athletic Hall of Fame were inducted: Tina (Payne) Scheidler, Steve Long, Tara (Marquart) Wiacek, and honorary inductee Alice Haylett.
Quincy is part of a 4-way tie for second place in the Big 8, along with Jonesville, Reading, and Bronson. Katie Rathbun’s 14-point, 11-rebound performance helped lift the Orioles to a 57-29 win at Homer. Quincy is now 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the Big 8.
Bronson dropped to 3-2 in the Big 8 and 4-4 overall as league-leading Springport handed the Vikings a 58-25 loss. Keona Salesman had 8 points and 12 rebounds to lead Bronson.
Union City lost at Reading 34-20. Logan Allen had a team-high 7 points as the Chargers fell to 1-7 overall, 0-5 in the Big 8.
Tekonsha picked up their third win of the season, 47-42 at Waldron. LeeAnn Haire lit it up from downtown with four 3-pointers on her way to a 23-point performance. The Indians improved to 3-6 overall, 2-6 in the SCAA Central.
