COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI – (WTVB) – Coldwater Fire Department officials say the cause of a $300,000 fire at a home owned by Ben Lounds at 237 South Willowbrook on Friday morning is undetermined.
The fire was first reported at 5:19 a.m.. It was the second early morning major house fire in Branch County this week.
Coldwater firefighters were first dispatched. There was heavy fire and smoke in the front of the structure when the first crew arrived.
Several off duty Coldwater firefighters also responded. The Quincy and Lakeland Fire Departments assisted with manpower and tankers.
The fire was called under control just after 9:30 a.m., over four hours after the fire in the single story home was reported. Officials say the entire structure sustained damage.
Despite the large fire, no injuries were reported. There were reports no one was inside when the fire broke out.
South Willowbrook Road between Sauk River and Dorrance Roads had to be shut down due to all of the firefighting equipment.
Also at the scene were Coldwater Police, the Branch County Sheriff’s Departnent, the Coldwater Department of Municipal Services and Lifecare Ambulance.
Crews cleared the scene at about 2:35 p.m..
