COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school basketball, Coldwater dug themselves too big of a hole to get out of Tuesday night as they dropped their second straight game at home to Jackson Northwest 66-38.
The Mounties dominated the first half as they led 16-5 after the first quarter and really put the pedel to the medal in the second quarter when they outscored Coldwater 27-6 to take a 43-11 lead into the lockerroom.
Carlee Crabtree, who was honored before the game after becoming Coldwater High School’s all time leading girls basketball scorer last Friday night, led the Cardinals with 19 points.
The Mounties had three players finish in double figures led by Morgan Hanchett with 19 points.
Coldwater drops to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in the Interstate 8.
Northwest won the JV game 31-21. Jenni Hernandez led Coldwater with eight points. Northwest also won the freshman contest 27-18.
The Quincy Orioles defeated the Bronson Vikings 39-36 Tuesday night in a Big 8 Conference battle in Bronson.
Katie Rathbun led the Orioles with 17 points, six rebounds and three assists. Madison Hinds had 12 points and seven rebounds.
Meagan Lasky led Bronson with nine points.
Quincy is now 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the Big 8 Conference while the Vikings drop to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the Big 8.
It was another tough night for the Union City Chargers as they lost at home to Jonesville 50-16.
Emma Dexter led the Chargers with five points. Union City is now 1-6 overall and 0-5 in the Big 8 Conference.
