UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Crews in the Village of Union City are trying to solve a water problem which has developed in the past few days but officials say the water is safe to drink and use as normal.
The village reported on its Facebook page that there has been a handful of brown or yellow water complaints by residents.
They say the issue has been traced to a back up water well on Park Street and is due to a high iron content from that well.
The Village’s main water well on Dirks Drive is reported to be out of service for upgrades to the water tower for about another week.
Engineers, third parties and village crews are working on the wells and water issues. They are monitoring the situation as the work is completed. The Village does not have a third well to switch to.
Village officials are apologizing for the inconvenience. Anyone with questions can call the Village Office during business hours at (517) 741-8591.
In an unrelated matter, there was an isolated power outage for a couple of hours in the downtown area Saturday afternoon. Crews managed to replace a couple of cut outs that caused the outage and the power was back on by 2:30 p.m..
