BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Both Coldwater and Quincy managed to get out of the pre-district round on Tuesday in the M.H.S.A.A. Girls Softball Tournament.
Division 2 at Harper Creek…COLDWATER 10, PENNFIELD 0
Coldwater advanced to the semifinals of the Division Two District tournament at Harper Creek as they blanked Pennfield 10-0. The game was stopped after five innings because of the mercy rule.
Winning pitcher Alexis Bills tossed a three hitter and struck out four.
Brooklyn Kerry collected three of the nine Coldwater hits. She had two triples and two RBI’s while Mia Rzepka had two doubles.
The Cardinals improve to 18-17 and will face Vicksburg Saturday at 12 noon in an MHSAA Division 2 Softball District Semifinal game at Harper Creek. The winner will take on either Marshall or Harper Creek for the district championship.
Division 3 at Homer…QUINCY 4, HOMER 0
Quincy used a dominating performance from winning pitcher Morgan Michael as they advanced to the Division Three District semifinals at Homer with a 4-0 win over the host Trojans.
Michael tossed a three hitter and struck out 12.
The Orioles will face Hillsdale at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The winner plays either Hanover-Horton or Jonesville for the district title.
Division 3 at Bronson….The host Bronson Vikings will face Centreville at 10:00 a.m. in the district semifinals. The 24-5 Bulldogs advanced on Tuesday with a 10-0 win over Niles Brandywine in a pre-district game.
