COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The first part of a three part hiring process to select the next Branch County 9-1-1 Director has been wrapped up.
Branch County Administrator Bud Norman reported to the Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday that a screening committee has selected ten candidates to go before an interview committee after there were 29 applicants for the job.
The position was posted during the month of April and Norman was pleased with the number and type of applicants.
The deadline for applications was April 26.
The interview committee will determine strengths and weaknesses of the ten candidates and they will recommend between three and five candidates who will then go before the Board of Commissioners. Confidentiality for the applicants will be kept up until that time.
Whoever is selected will be Kurt Spalding’s successor. He retired last September after over 35 years of service. Assistant 911 Director Jean Ratkowski has been serving as the interim director.
