COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Quincy man is facing three charges following an alleged domestic dispute that according to Branch County court documents turned violent on Sunday.
Following an investigation by Quincy Police, 36-year-old Douglas Longstreet was arraigned in Branch County District Court on Monday on charges of strangulation, domestic violence second offense and interfering with electronic communications.
Longstreet is accused of head butting and choking the alleged female victim. He was also accused of taking the woman’s car keys and phone earlier in the day.
In order to call for help, the alleged victim had to activate an old phone and call her family. She was later taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Bond for Longstreet was set at $35,000. Should he post bond, Longstreet was ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victim.
A probable cause hearing was scheduled for June 17 with a preliminary exam on June 23.
