MONTREAL (WTVB) – Team USA has advanced to the Women’s World Cup soccer final, scoring twice in the second half last night in a 2-0 win over Germany in the semifinals in Montreal. Carli Lloyd opened the scoring on a penalty kick in the 69th minute. Lloyd then assisted on Kelley O’Hara’s goal in the 84th minute.
The Americans have allowed only one goal through six matches in the tournament. The U.S. will next face either defending champion Japan or England, who will square off in the other semifinal tonight.
The championship match will take place in Vancouver Sunday night.
