STEUBEN TOWNSHIP, IN (WTVB) – A medical event may have led to a Saturday afternoon motorcycle crash in Steuben County which injured an Angola man.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened at about 1:15 p.m. on County Road 500 South at the intersection of County Road 225 West.
A witness told deputies that the motorcycle which was driven 56 year old Alan B. Jones began to swerve back and forth before going off the road and colliding with an embankment.
The witness along with another passersby told Steuben County Communications that Jones was not breathing after he crashed his motorcycle and they started CPR.
Jones started breathing again prior to medical personnel arriving on scene. He was transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne by the Samaritan Helicopter for internal injuries to his head and chest.
Jones was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash which is still under investigation.
