BROOKLYN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — UPDATED: The name of the three men who were found dead have been released, according to an update published by WWMT Monday.
Police had been called to investigate a group of unresponsive persons at a campground located at the corner of US-12 and Brooklyn Highway.
Five people were found to be unresponsive inside a trailer, and three of them were pronounced dead at the scene. Police said their deaths are suspected to be carbon monoxide exposure from a generator located near the travel trailer they were staying in.
Two of them are currently being treated at a local hospital.
On Monday, WWMT released the following names of the three who passed away –
- Dawson Brown, 20
- Richie Mays Jr., 20
- Kole Sova, 19
The report said the three were graduates from Michigan Center High School in Michigan Center.
The additional death of a 30-year-old woman attending the festival, Melissa Donna Havens of Croswell, is still under investigation.

Four people are dead, with three of them succumbing to carbon monoxide poisoning, during a country music festival in Lenawee County Saturday, July 17.
Both Michigan State Police and Lenawee County Sheriff’s deputies report the deaths happened during the Faster Horses Festival at Michigan International Speedway.
The first, a 30-year-old woman who was found dead around 7:30 a.m. Saturday. State police identified her as Melissa Donna Havens of Croswell, MI. Her cause of death is unknown at this time.
More tragedy unfolded later in the day as Emergency Medical Responders and Sheriff’s Deputies found five people unresponsive, with three dead on scene during an emergency call at a campground in Woodstock Township.
According to a press release from the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, County Central Dispatch received a 911 call around 1:27 p.m. regarding unresponsive persons at the campground located at the corner of US-12 and Brooklyn Highway.
There, responders found five males in their early 20’s inside a travel trailer who were all unresponsive. Further medical staff arrived on scene and began administering CPR.
Three of them were pronounced dead at the scene and the other two were transported to a local hospital for treatment for acute carbon monoxide poisoning.
Authorities say the incident is being investigated as a suspected carbon monoxide exposure from a generator located near the travel trailer.
