COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is reporting an increase in Branch County COVID-19 cases when compared to the previous week.
Nine new cases were reported in Branch County for the day on Wednesday. That’s the highest one day total since 12 were reported on June 24.
24 new cases have been reported so far this week in Branch County compared to 16 for all of last week.
Apparently the new cases are not linked to the Delta variant.
Health Officer Rebecca Burns said in her report to for Thursday’s Health Board meeting that one additional Delta variant case has been identified in a St. Joseph County resident this past week.
Personal Health and Disease Prevention Director Kali Nichols says 10 Delta variant cases have been reported so far in Branch County while seven have been reported in St. Joseph County.
Statistics from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services show that 62-point-9 percent of Michigan residents 16 and older have gotten at least one COVID-19 vaccination. The same statistics show just over 43 percent of Branch County residents have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
