COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County United Way’s Power of the Purse event was held this past Saturday at the Dearth Community Center.
It remains to be seen if Saturday’s event will top last year’s record amount of just under $52,000.
Katy Olmsted-Lenhardt and Lisa Tubergan were honored as the Women of the Year in Business and Service.
This year’s Power of the Purse fundraiser included afternoon and evening sessions.
Proceeds will go towards the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free books for children from birth to age 5.
Many local businesses and individuals donated items for the nearly 90 purses that were awarded.
