COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker told the Coldwater City Council on Monday night that a section of Waterworks Park is closed in order to restore the location after it was heavily damaged by natural forces and improper parking.
It’s estimated the section will be closed at least until the fall, possibly as long as next spring.
Baker says signs and fences have been placed throughout the area to protect newly planted grass, flowers and other items as they take root.
The City plans to post a video about the closing on its web site and social media platforms.
Baker pointed out that maintaining the natural environment of Waterworks Park is essential for the preservation of the riverbanks, roadways, and the safety of citizens. He added, “this is because the river can erode the soil and make the ground unstable without natural vegetation.”
Further questions surrounding Waterworks Park can be directed to Brian Musselman, the Water and Water Resource Recovery Facility Superintendent, at bmusselman@coldwater.org.
